Zappware takes Peking Express interactive
09/05/2006
New milestone for creative iDTV department of Limburg company
Zappware, the Belgian one-stop provider of interactive digital television solutions, is supplying both creative and technological support for the new interactive series of Peking Express TV shows.
The interactive part of the programme is in two parts. First, background information is provided that relates to the programme itself, such as details about the couples taking part, the locations chosen and flashbacks from previous episodes. Then for each segment broadcast, there is an opportunity to take part in a quiz, which enhances both the emotional perception of the show and the involvement of the viewer.
The option to be interactive resides entirely with the viewers and their involvement comes via a 'call to action': an invitation to watch interactively. So the viewers themselves decide if and when they open up the interactive information screen and take part in the quiz.
Zappware is by no means a beginner in this area. It has already produced the interactive TV shows "Doe De Stemtest", "Eén-tegen-honderd" and "Expeditie Robinson".
"We are very happy about the final result," says Filip Staes, Zappware's business development manager. "We provide the perfect integration of the TV format, iDTV technology and creativity, which clearly demonstrates the added value for the viewer. Our in-depth iDTV expertise, combined with the Telenet platform, which is particularly well suited to this type of interactive application, made it possible, in a period of barely 6 weeks, to put together the interactive part of Peking Express. In the short term, the interactive enhancement of this type of programme will focus even more on the connection with the viewer, as well as on the integration of advertisers."
