Zappware makes first TV site with moving pictures
01/09/2006

First interactive service live on iView platform.

Zappware, the Belgian one-stop supplier of interactive digital television solutions, constructed the recently launched TV site of the city Kortrijk.

All viewers of regional television station Focus WTV with a Telenet Digicorder or Digibox have access to the TV Magazine of Kortrijk which provides extra information about the city. Pressing the red button on their remote control allows them to access both tourist information, general news about the city and information about municipal services.

The TV site also has moving pictures: a Flemish first.

Marc Vervoort, iDTV Producer at Zappware:"Because of its great accessibility TV is the ideal medium for the government in its direct communication with civilians. We expect this project to increase the interaction between the people of Kortrijk and the city council and that this initiative will be rapidly expanded."

Kortrijk's TV site operates on iView, Zappware's end-to-end platform. This allows all facets of an iDTV application to be systematically supported, ranging from the creation of content and demos, to tests, updates and follow-up. iView simplifies the management of an iDTV project considerably and allows Zappware to meet the rapidly evolving trends in the iDTV market.

Koen Swings, Managing Partner at Zappware:"The combination of our expertise and the technical opportunities offered by the iView platform will considerably speed up the implementation time of these applications in the future."
