Zappware starts digital revolution for broadcaster SBS

"Digitext" launch by VT4, Zappware and Telenet on June 6, 2007.

Zappware, the Belgian one-stop solution provider for iDTV solutions and preferred supplier of SBS Belgium, was challenged to conceive and develop the first full fleched digitext for a major broadcaster in Belgium, VT4. As of June 6 2007 all Telenet Digital TV customers are able to consult "Digitext" in the energetic and appealing style which is so typical of the VT4 channel.

Digital Telenet viewers press the digitext button on their remote controls and get access to news, weather maps, sports info, horoscope, lotto results, etc. At all times the broadcast itself is available picture in picture in a scaled version. "Digitext" is available 24/7, and presents itself as a colourful magazine on TV, with pictures, animations and a user-friendly user interface. Coming soon: video-on-demand, games, contests and innovative interactive services, opening new perspectives for advertisers and broadcasters. The coming TV shows will come with enhanced applications linking into Digitext enabling community-building.

In 2006 Zappware kicks off interactive TV for broadcaster SBS Belgium. Enhanced iDTV applications such as Peking Express 2006 (quiz and Walled Garden), Temptation Island 2006 (relation test) and Youth of Today 2006 (impulse response Mentos game and Walled Garden) prooved their worth. Positive results led to another series of enhanced iDTV applications in 2007: Peking Express 2007 (quiz), Temptation Island 2007 (poker game) and Supertalent 2007 (voting).

The Belgian VT4 digitext is the first digital teletext launched within SBS Broadcasting Europe, VT4's parent company.
