iView for Operators launch at IBC 2007 (Amsterdam)
01/09/2007
Zappware launches a modular and pre-integrated series of interactive digital TV services for Operators on September 7, 2007.
At IBC 2007, Zappware - a Belgian one-stop solution provider for interactive digital television - releases an integrated series of iDTV services for operators called "iView for Operators".
iView for Operators is a collection of compelling and revenuegenerating iDTV services for operators comprising the following products :
- iView EPG: an Electronic Program Guide service, presenting viewers detailed information on the programmes that are broadcasted, featuring a flexible data import and processing engine, a grid or list display mode, reminders, a flexible search engine, integration with iView PVR and iView nPVR to allow viewers to record programs with a single key press, and Startover TV which, through an integration with iView VOD, allows viewers to browse backwards in time and order programmes that have already been broadcasted.
- iView VOD: a Video-on-Demand service, allowing viewers to browse through an operator and/or broadcaster defined catalogue of movies and order movies for viewing. iView VOD supports a flexible pricing model allowing assets to be combined in various product offerings, and VOD billboard advertising, creating an additional revenue stream for VOD content. iView VOD is built in a modular way and preintegrated with a broad variety of video servers.
- iView PVR and iView nPVR: a Personal Video Recording service, allowing viewers to record programmes on a hard disk inside their set-top box (PVR) or on a storage service provided by the operator (nPVR). iView PVR features timeshifting, allowing viewers to pauze live broadcasts, remote programming over Web and/or mobile devices, and a flexible and easy to use conflict resolution scheme.
- iView Personal TV: a recommendation service which automatically plans or recommends TV programme recordings based on viewer preferences. Viewers express their preferences by highlighting interesting programmes in the EPG. The recorded, planned or recommended TV programmes are then presented to the viewer as a collection of virtual channels.
- iView Babalooza: a game service, consisting of a broad variety of attractive and easy-to-play games, and a portal service allowing viewers to browse and order game content. iView Babalooza supports a broad variety of business models, from pay-per-play to daypasses, monthly subscriptions. or sponsored games.
- iView Home: a portal service which provide viewers an integrated front-end for starting and personalising all services provided by the operator or by third parties, and for installing and configuring the set-top box.
All these iDTV services combine a visual attractive front-end application with accompanying processing components in the head-end, resulting in a complete end-to-end solution. These end-to-end solutions are also built in a modular and scalable way, allowing them to be integrated with a broad variety of head-end products and video server equipment, and allowing them to be deployed on small as well as large networks.
Moreover, through its partnership relations with technology partners, Zappware has pre-integrated these services with leading suppliers of head-end and video server equipment into complete end-to-end solutions that are ready to be deployed, offering operators a proven packaged solution towards iDTV. And finally, all front-end applications of the iView for Operators series are built using iView Platform, Zappware's production and management environment. Not only allows this the operator to easily fine-tune and update the content and look-and-feel of the applications, it also enables the operator to deploy or redeploy these services on a broad variety of set-top box solutions, including MHP, OpenTV and IPTV.
"With iView for Operators, Zappware can offer operators a modular and proven solution, that can be deployed in short times and that remains open and flexible to accommodate any future requirements", says Koen Swings, CTO of Zappware.
iView for Operators is part of the overall iView product line, which besides iView for Operators, also comprises iView for Broadcasters, a series of iDTV services for broadcasters and iView Platform, a complete production and management platform to create, update and operate those applications.
Zappware's iView for Operators product is launched at IBC (the International Broadcasting Convention), Europe's largest and most important event for the media content business. At IBC 2007, Zappware will showcase the iView for Operators services on a variety of digital TV platforms, and will demonstrate the production and management capabilities of iView Platform.
