iView Platform launch at IBC 2007 (Amsterdam)

Zappware launches its iView production and management platform on September 7, 2007.

At IBC 2007, Zappware - a Belgian one-stop solution provider for interactive digital television - releases an integrated suite of tools for the production and management of interactive digital TV services, called "iView Platform".

With iView Platform, operators and broadcasters can easily create, update and deploy interactive digital television (iDTV) services. iView Platform supports the management and editing of content, the management and authoring of applications, the management and editing of timelines, and automates the roll-out of applications on a variety of digital TV platforms. Overall, iView Platform comprises the following components :

• iView Portal: an integrated web environment for creating and managing content, applications, timelines, and deployments.
• iView Producer: a flexible, visual authoring environment for the creation and / or modification of iDTV applications.
• iView Playout Manager: an automation tool which integrates with the playout room of a broadcaster in order to automate the roll-out and lifecycle of interactive layers on top of TV programmes or commercials.
• iView Zaphire: a portable runtime environment, allowing all applications produced by iView Platform to be run on a variety of set-top boxes and middleware with minimal memory footprints and processor resources.

The iView Platform solution is an open and platform-independent solution. Besides supporting the iView for Operators and iView for Broadcasters series of services, it also supports the production and management of services provided by third parties. All these services can then be produced and managed on a broad variety of middleware and set-top boxes, including such middlewares as MHP, OpenTV or IPTV.

iView Platform is part of the overall iView productline, which besides iView Platform, also comprises iView for Operators, a series of iDTV services for operators and iView for Broadcasters, a series of iDTV applications for broadcasters.

Zappware's iView Platform is launched at IBC (the International Broadcasting Convention), Europe's largest and most important event for the media content business. At IBC 2007, Zappware will showcase the production and management capabilities of iView Platform and will demonstrate how broadcasters and operators can create, update and deploy applications on their networks.
